Evolving with Intention

Hi friends, Ashley here. As we ease into the warmer days of May, I’ve been reflecting on how this little dream of mine has grown—and how much heart has gone into every step of it. Running The Pawfect Plus One has stretched me in ways I never expected, and I’ve never been more grateful for the trust you place in me to care for your pets.

Why This Work Means So Much to Me

One of the things I love most about this work is being the person your dog sees in the “in-between”—the one who shows up after you leave and before you come home. The moment I hear the soft thump of paws running to the door or an excited bark when my Jeep locks and they know, “Ashley’s here”—those moments are everything.

Over time, I get to know each dog’s unique personality—their quirks, their body language, what excites them, what helps them settle. I watch, I listen, and I learn. It’s a quiet kind of bond, and one I hold with deep respect.

Thank you for trusting me with your pets. That trust is a privilege I never take for granted.

Growing in Skill, Not Just in Heart

Loving animals is the foundation—but I believe true care also comes from preparation and continued learning. That’s why I’m committed to ongoing education and professional certifications that support your pet’s emotional and physical well-being.

This year, I’m proud to be certified in:

  • Pet CPR and First Aid

  • Currently working toward:

    • Fear Free Boarding & Daycare Certification

    • Fear Free Pet Sitter Certification

These programs help me create a low-stress, emotionally supportive experience for every pet in my care—especially those who may be anxious or sensitive.

Giving Back with Every “I Do”

Starting this month, The Pawfect Plus One will be giving back in a new way: for every wedding booked, a portion of the service fee will be donated to a local animal rescue or nonprofit.

This work isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. And I want to use this platform to help pets beyond the ones I care for directly.

For May, I’m honored to support Colorado Pet Pantry, an incredible organization that helps feed pets in need—keeping them with their families and out of shelters during tough times.

Your special day can now help another pet stay safe and loved—that’s the kind of ripple effect I believe in.

Community Spotlight: Ruff on the Runway

We're proud to share that Pike will be participating in the 2nd Annual Ruff on the Runway, a fun and meaningful event benefiting Colorado Pet Pantry.

  • When: Saturday, May 17 | 1–3 PM

  • Where: The Empourium Brewing Company

  • Why: The event raises awareness and funds for pet families in need—and adds a little fun with a dog-friendly fashion show. The top dog will even have their face featured on a special-edition Empourium beer can.

We're also celebrating Juju, who continues to volunteer her time with Colorado Pet Pantry. Supporting this organization both personally and professionally is something we’re incredibly proud of, and it’s one more way we stay connected to the community we serve.

Looking Ahead

As The Pawfect Plus One continues to evolve, my mission remains the same: to show up with heart, to care with intention, and to create a safe, joyful experience for every pet I’m lucky enough to meet. Thank you for walking alongside me on this journey—your support means the world.

Here’s to a season of growth, giving back, and making memories—one pawprint at a time.

With gratitude,

 Ashley
